My goal as a facilitator is to enable groups to have better conversations. Conversations that result in better decisions and actions.
My approach encourages participation, energy, creative thinking and a clear focus on business outcomes.
Workshops can have many different purposes and be a useful part of a strategic approach.
They can help you and your teams shape and find your way through transitions and change. For example:
- new leadership
- new business vision
- new structure
- a step change in company growth (increase, stagnation or decline)
- a new or emerging competitive threat
We start by planning the workshop. The workshop sponsor shares the purpose and desired outcomes of the session with me. I then meet with the workshop group to understand the context and identify any key themes (enablers or blockers). Understanding these themes means we can choose whether to deal with any key blockers ahead of the workshop, or resolve them as part of the workshop.
Understanding the purpose, group and context informs the workshop design. I draw on a wide range of facilitator tools and techniques, choosing those appropriate to drive towards the desired outcomes. I ensure we have freedom within the structure to permit a wide range of possibilities. The workshop design is approved by the sponsor.
I am a member of the International Association of Facilitators group and Applied Improvisation Network.
